मुंबई: मध्य रेल्वेचे (Central Railway) नवनियुक्त महाप्रबंधक (General Manager) विजय कुमार यांचे मंगळवारी मुंबईत हृदयविकाराच्या तीव्र झटक्याने निधन झाले. झोपेत असताना त्यांना हृदयविकाराचा झटका आला, अशी प्राथमिक माहिती आहे. त्यांना तातडीने जसलोक रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले, मात्र डॉक्टरांनी त्यांना मृत घोषित केले.
गेल्याच महिन्यात, १ ऑक्टोबर रोजी त्यांनी मध्य रेल्वेच्या महाव्यवस्थापक पदाचा पदभार स्वीकारला होता. भारतीय रेल्वे यांत्रिक इंजिनिअर सेवेतील १९८५ च्या तुकडीचे अधिकारी असलेल्या विजय कुमार यांच्या निधनाने रेल्वे विभागात मोठी शोककळा पसरली आहे.

यापूर्वी, चित्तरंजन लोकोमोटिव्ह वर्क्स (CLW) येथे महाव्यवस्थापक म्हणून कार्यरत असताना त्यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली CLW ने आर्थिक वर्ष २०२४-२५ मध्ये ७०० लोकोमोटिव्हचे विक्रमी उत्पादन केले होते. मध्य रेल्वेचा पदभार स्वीकारल्यानंतर अवघ्या एका महिन्यातच त्यांचे अकाली निधन झाल्यामुळे रेल्वे विभागाला मोठा धक्का बसला आहे. त्यांच्या कुटुंबियांवर दुःखाचा डोंगर कोसळला असून, रेल्वे कर्मचारी आणि अधिकाऱ्यांनी शोक व्यक्त केला आहे.
